What is scrapbooking?

Scrapbooking is the craft of preserving memories with photos, paper and embellishments—mixing creativity with your personal story.

Essential supplies

  • Acid-free papers & cardstock: a safe base for photos.
  • Adhesives: double-sided tape, glue stick and a tape runner.
  • Cutting tools: scissors and a craft knife with a cutting mat.
  • Embellishments: washi tapes, stamps, inks and die-cuts.

Basic techniques

  • Layering: build depth with backgrounds and stacked papers.
  • Die-cutting: clean shapes using dies or punches.
  • Simple journaling: add context with one or two short paragraphs.

Your first project

Create a 12x12 layout with one hero photo, a title, 3–5 embellishments and short journaling.

Beginner tips

  1. Use a simple sketch (photo + title + journaling).
  2. Stick to a 2–3 color palette.
  3. Print a composition template to guide your layout.
